Mission
The mission of the Education Accreditation Committee of the European Polygraph Association – Europolygraph is to continually evaluate and enhance the quality of credibility assessment education programs through its voluntary accreditation program. Additionally, it promotes an ongoing culture of self-assessment, reflection, and continuous improvement among faculty members of basic polygraph education programs, with particular emphasis on student performance in critical areas necessary for professional success in credibility assessment.
The Committee actively collaborates with official educational institutions such as universities, certified academies, government agencies, and other accredited entities to foster academic rigor, research innovation, and professional excellence in credibility assessment education.
Objectives The objectives of the Education Accreditation Committee are:
- To establish, subject to approval by the board of directors, minimum standards designed to ensure consistency and quality in basic polygraph education and training programs.
- To review and evaluate program documents, provide feedback and guidance to programs as necessary, assess programs for compliance with accreditation standards, and make accreditation recommendations to the board of directors.
- To recommend changes to accreditation standards based on input and participation from communities of interest, including accredited programs, universities, higher education institutions, and relevant governmental and professional bodies.
- To develop internal policies and procedures, subject to approval by the board of directors, to ensure:
- Clearly defined procedures for evaluating programs against accreditation standards.
- Fair and consistent application of all standards, including but not limited to orientation, training, and professional development of Committee personnel and volunteers.
- Objective decision-making that includes attention to due process and prompt response to appeals and complaints.
- Efficient and cost-effective accreditation processes for individual programs.
- Accurate, relevant, and timely information provided or made available to members of various communities of interest, including accredited programs and partner institutions.
History Founded in 2003, Europolygraph is dedicated to providing valid and reliable methods for truth verification and establishing high standards of moral, ethical, and professional conduct within the polygraph field. Europolygraph sets ethical standards, best practices, techniques, instrumentation, research, and advanced training and continuing education programs for its members.
The Education Accreditation Committee has accredited basic polygraph training programs since its inception. For more than two decades, it has ensured that basic polygraph training courses meet rigorous standards of quality necessary to produce technically competent and highly skilled professionals in the field of credibility assessment, working in collaboration with prestigious educational and governmental institutions to achieve excellence.
